Flight Instructor Course (FI)
There is nothing more satisfying than teaching people how to fly aeroplanes. You will never forget the day you send your student on his/her first Solo flight.
Teaching students how to fly is an exceptionally responsible job. NFC passes on exact standards and discipline to all students on this course. NFC Instructors who conduct the FI Course are highly experienced Flight Instructor Instructors who have amassed thousands of hours flying experience with airlines and within the Flight Training industry. This wealth of experience/knowledge is passed on to Student Flight Instructors to ensure they reach the highest standards and are adequately prepared to teach people how to fly!
The FI (A) Course consists of;
- Theoretical phase (125 hours)
- Flight Training phase (30 hours)
FI (A) Theoretical Phase includes;
- Complete 125 hours of JAA FI (A) Theory and associated briefing/lecture practise
- Flight Instructors Manual by R.D. Campbell
- Ireland VFR Charts
- Fuel Strainer
- High Vis Jacket
- Course specific handouts
(Normal Flight Training rates apply to the flying portion of the course)
Before you start you must have;
(a) at least a CPL(A) or completed at least 200 hours of flight time of which 150 hours as pilot-in-command if holding a PPL(A);
(b) met the knowledge requirements for a CPL(A) as set out in Appendix 1 to JAR-FCL
(c) completed at least 30 hours on single-engine piston powered aeroplanes of which at least five hours shall have been completed during the six months preceding the pre-entry flight test set out at (f) below;
(d) received at least 10 hours instrument flight instruction of which not more than five hours may be instrument ground time in a FNPT or a flight simulator;
(e) completed at least 20 hours of crosscountry flight as pilot-in-command, including a flight totaling not less that 540 km (300 nm) in the course of which full stop landings at two different aerodromes shall be made; and
(f) passed a specific pre-entry flight test with an FI qualified as in JAR-FCL 1.330(f) based upon the proficiency check as set out in Appendix 3 to JAR-FCL 1.240 within the six months preceding the start of the course. The flight test will assess the ability of the applicant to undertake the course.
